When was Lawyers Civil Process founded?

LCP was founded in 1979 as the first private process firm in Dallas and the second in Texas.  Although others claim to be the first in Dallas, make no mistake, Lawyers Civil Process was in fact the first in the metro-plex.

What kind of turnaround time can I expect for services provided?

Service is normally attempted within 48 hours of receiving the papers.  If the party is not at the location of service then additional attempts are made within 24 hours unless otherwise requested by the attorney.  Rush service is also available for an additional charge.

How many attempts are generally made?

You are guaranteed that multiple attempts will be made unless information is obtained that the party is no longer at that location.  Additional charges apply for a new address and skip tracing.  We do NOT, however, charge extra for multiple attempts.  After substantial attempts are made without progress, we can get a rule 106 order signed by the judge to permit substitute service.  We require permission by the attorney to apply for a rule 106 order.

What happens if you cannot serve the party?

Lawyers Civil Process usually serves the party on all possible papers.  We will not turn down a difficult serve.  If service is impossible, we can get a rule 106 order signed by the judge to allow substitute service.  We require attorney approval to get such order signed.  This allows us to serve anyone in the household over 16, by posting it on the door or a secure location where the party is sure to find their papers.  Additionally, we will provide a typed and notarized affidavit of attempts for you to prepare the Motion and Order granting alternative service.

What is rush service?

Rush service is specially requested by an attorney or paralegal for immediate attention.  After receiving the documents, we will have a process server ready to make an immediate attempt.  Your paper will be served within 24 hours or when you specify.  There is an additional fee to obtain such service.

YES! We courthouse filing fees as long as you have an account opened up with Lawyers Civil Process.  To open account, simply call and give us your information.  Account setups are FREE!  Due to the recent filing fee increases in the local courts, we have added a minimal $5.00 fee to front filing fees.  With the simple filing of a new divorce costing nearly $300.00, we find that it is fair to charge minimally for giving credit.  However, we do waive this fee for long time and quick paying clients.

Why should I outsource work normally done by in-house paralegals?

Why should I use LCP instead of the local Constable officers?

The sheriff or constable department does offer process serving, however, many sheriff or constable departments are backlogged and do not offer extra care, diligence and dedication to completing more difficult serves. They do not offer rush service and special coordination requests.  Lawyers Civil Process takes pride in serving papers quickly and using its in house skip tracing team to track individuals avoiding service or individuals who have moved.  You can even ask for same day, rush service. We also mail out affidavits of service the same day our returns are in the office.

Why should I use LCP for document retrieval?

We offer fast, dependable document retrieval from the courthouses within the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex as quickly as possible and in the same day for most cases. Our trained staff knows how to retrieve all of the documents relevant to your case in a timely matter.
